Work Party Tasks

Erewash Canal Association work in partnership with the Canal & River Trust (CRT) to maintain the Erewash Canal. For the year 2026 we have agreed the following tasks:

• A schedule of Pre-Planned Lock and Swingbridge maintenance
• Adhoc demand-led repairs to locks, fences, towpaths
• Grass cutting around the Langley Bridge lock area
• Fitting of anti-vandal locks to lock gates where needed

Apart from the above during the winter months we carry out offside vegetation work to keep sight lines clear, remove branches overhanging the navigation using our workboat Pentland and woodchipper.
