A New Strategy and a New Name - Erewash Canal Association

In 2024, the trustees agreed that the Association must refresh its mission for the 21st century — offering a clearer value proposition, strengthening community impact, and re‑energising members, volunteers, and partners.

Members voted on three potential new names and at the June 2025 AGM Erewash Canal Association was approved and subsequently registered with the Charity Commission in July 2025. This change aligns our public identity, governance, and future strategy.

Why we need a new logo:

  • Outdated design: The current logo was created before social media, mobile screens, and online materials were common. It doesn’t always work clearly in modern formats.
  • Reflect our new name: We have a new Working Name, and the logo will show that clearly.
  • Better recognition: A simpler, modern design will be easier to recognise briefly, whether online, in print, or on merchandise.
  • Attract new supporters: A professional, approachable logo helps more people connect with our work and join our projects.
  • Signal progress: A refreshed logo shows the association is active, evolving, and ready for the future, while staying true to its roots.

Our Vision

To continue to promote, protect, enhance, and ensure the Erewash Canal is preserved, celebrated, and enjoyed by future generations through active stewardship, community engagement, and heritage‑led regeneration.
