The Nottingham Canal toll house was built about 1795 in the garden of the lock keepers house and consists of a small narrow ticket office 3.55m long x 1.25m wide x 2.50m high and a larger, square main office 3.55 x 3.10 x 2.50.
The outside dimensions are 5.24 x 4.02 x 3.04 (height above road level) although, not listed, the building forms part of the Langley Bridge Lock Conservation Area.
The building is owned by Canal & River Trust and has been added to the lease of the Erewash Canal Preservation & Development Association at a peppercorn rent, provided that we make any necessary repairs.
in 2025 some photographs of the early works around the Langley Mill basin were used to create a collage of pictures telling the story of how the Lock and Basins were restored.
The Toll Office isusually open on the last Sunday of the month - check our events page for next opening date.
